Author Topic: What's the deal with everyone asking for "indie game suggestions"?  (Read 751 times)

Why do they have to be indie games?

Why are requests usually super specific.
Ex: "Can anyone suggest me a platformer MMO indie game that's been released in 2013??"

EDIT: I put this in games because it's about the games board.

Because a lot of people prefer indie games. It's some sort of master race thing.

I think its because everyone knows what large game companies are making / already made, so they want indie games to be more of a surprise.
Or maybe because some the new game releases weren't so great or something idk.

Indie games tend to have less bullstuff. We're reaching that point where game companies are getting big enough that they don't have to worry about game quality anymore because people will buy them anyway. Everything's more about WOW LOOK AT THESE GRAPHICS PEW PEW instead of actual game feel, and indie devs tend to be better at not doing that.

indie games are quickly becoming a big thing so those corporations are gonna have to haul ass and fix stuff or hopefully burn and die

a lot of indie game developers have more fresh and fun ideas than a lot of big-name companies have these days. it's surprising but it's true.

I see some interesting 'big-name company' games while also seeing some pretty stuffty handicapped indie games.
I also see some stuffty 'big-name company' games while seeing pretty good indie games.

So I still don't understand anyone's point. Whether somethings funded and run by a publisher doesn't really determine if something's good or not.

I think feel like this is the reason.

It's because Minecraft created the "INDIE GAIMZ R BEDER DEN ANYTHEENG ELS" crowd.

No, Minecraft was just a part of that rush.

It started around the time Minecraft came out, and it definitely did contribute, but it wasn't by any means the sole cause.

Because people like me don't wanna give a handful of money to big corporations like EA.

"i dont want to have fun because a company will get money"

"i dont want to have fun because a company will get money"
and that is how agressive consumerism works, welcome to earth.

hahahahaahhahahaahahahah your 60 dollars is nothing to big companies.
