But is there someone versed in the engine that can confirm how much it can do?
Both Badspot and Kompressor used to work at GarageGames, the people who made Torque. Badspot was friends with someone who made a book on optimizing games. I am sure that they are getting as much out of it as they have the time to get.

also, isnt that title ambiguous
no
a thread's title doesn't have to describe exactly what's in it
when you came into the thread, what were you expecting? you were expecting to see something that Reson wished was in the game, right?
well, that's what it's about

Switch Blockland to CryEngine 3 2013
75% of people leave blockland due to extreme hardware requirements of cryengine 3

Wouldn't a new engine require HUGE amounts of coding from the developers and the modders?

I think so, even though they are still Torque based I think Badspot has fiddled around with the engine so much everything on it is practically its "own". The new S&S feature would have to be re-written most likely. Plus Badspot/kompressor have stated that moving to the newer engine wouldnt offer much of a gain (however I dont know when this was stated, could have been before T3D was released).
