Author Topic: NES Zapper does not work on CRT TV.  (Read 4278 times)

No no no, that trick isn't real. It doesn't work. If it does work, then it's a poorly coded game.
What?  Do you even know how it works?  Also, is the crt flat?  That might be it.

Er, having a flat or round CRT will not mess with the game.

And I'm sure the light bulb trick doesn't work, because you need 1 frame of darkness beforehand.

I think I am going to replace this gun. What say you guys?

Well of course you think it's broken because when we say something that could be the issue, you instantly say we're wrong.

What the hell are you talking about? I'm not "instantly" saying you're wrong, I'm providing information to help answer the question.

And the guy in the video posted clearly stated that flatness isn't a problem.

According to that link, it does matter what kind of CRT TV you have. Get a CRT screen that is a SDTV, that will probably work.

Edit: After searching the internet a few more times, most people said that rear projection based CRT screens don't work and that you will need a direct view based CRT screen.

Alright, I was under the impression that because many people have gotten the lightbulb trick to work (but isn't accurate) it was true.  The flat thing is false though, I was thinking of the Super Scope's method.  My bad.

What model TV do you have?  This could really help sort it out.

I've read that source before, but I really don't believe scanlines affect the Zapper.

I'm not sure what model, but it's a bulky Phillips CRT HDTV.

You don't have any manual or anything?

unfortunately no, the tv is very old.

That link says otherwise. The games expect the TV to be using the older method of doing scanlines.
