and you can even fake it easily if you felt the need to play like its 1995

Even if you don't have LAN you can play locally over the internet with minimal ping issues, I was playing a few games with a friend down the road and I was getting something like 15-20 ping, and it felt faster than single player for some reason anyway. I'm sure if your internet is even average connecting locally shouldn't even be a problem.
