Author Topic: Save "Middle Earth Roleplaying Project" (MERP) *Slightly Image Heavy*  (Read 6484 times)

http://www.moddb.com/mods/merp-middle-earth-roleplaying-project

MERP is a total conversion mod for Skyrim that would bring a 1:1 scale Middle Earth onto the Skyrim engine that was under works until Warner Bros put a C&D (Cease and Desist) on the project. The project was completely fan-made and free of charge. Warner Bros has been silent for a while as far as anyone outside the dev team knows due to a lawsuit between Warner Bros and the Tolkien Estate regarding slot machines.

If the Tolkien Estate wins against Warner Bros, the C&D will become invalid. But that doesn't mean the Tolkien Estate won't take action against the mod.

The most we can do at the moment is wait and sign this petition. It is recommended you share this with friends, the more signatures the better.

Sorry for this 3rd page bump. Sign it dipstuffs.

The map is more than nine times the size of the skyrim map. Mirkwood forest alone is the size of Skyrim. Here's a heightmap video so you can have an idea.

Also bumping with more pictures.

the thing about map size is that huge maps make it a little more frustrating to go between areas and there isnt usually much detail involved with it

I find it a lot more immersing if there's actually a decent distance to travel. Gives a better sense of "Rp'ing" in my opinion.

you don't want to adventure across middle earth?

Holy stuff. If this goes through, this is going to be one of the best mods ever made.

I think what he means is that when they make maps that are 1:1 you end up with a lot of empty space because there just isn't enough lore for all however many miles make up Mirkwood.

i like the excitement of moving from area to area. i don't want to have something around EVERY corner, that just wouldn't be right.
