If you have been living in illinois, I've been getting the same problem too. My speeds are normal and than they get really bad. It will end soon hopefully

I do live in Illinois and I hope you are right.

While we're on the subject of speedtest.net and stuff, is systweak/regclean good? I downloaded it, but it's looking pretty fishy to old man katadingus.

It's fake if you want something that works well get Ccleaner for registry and cleaning other stuff. Uninstall that

Don't complain, I have 600kbs download speed all the time at the most for everything. Generally it goes between 200-600 so it's a pain in the ass to download  stuff. And my upload is 1.5kbs.

ITT:  people who don't understand that no matter how fast your internet is, you will still only download as fast as the server uploads.

i download things off of steam at 5.5 megabytes per second.  however youtube videos load at something less than 500 kilobytes per second, because steam servers are uploading as fast as they can yet youtube has a capped upload rate to viewers to conserve their own bandwidth.

Quick complain to your ISP, it's their fault!

I have this same problem...

But it's just because of outdated technology.

ITT: Nickelob Ultra explains that throughput works both ways, only to get promptly ignored.

yes, outdated technology.  this is the exact cause.

gentlemen, the internet is outdated.  stop using it.

also be aware that using any major ISP will never get an accurate read from speedtest.net, as they have been getting harsh receivals from people finding out that they are, in fact, not getting the internet they paid for, so they will actually distort results to make it seem higher performance than it is. this is not your problem though. probably squashed a bug or something, karma got you.
