Author Topic: Dear all you audiophiles, I'm looking for headphones around $300  (Read 1586 times)

go to amazon.  im shocked that you wanna waste $300 on some stupid headphones.

People into audio and quality music are not interested in that. It may sound good to you but when you know better it doesn't compare. My car has a $2,000 sound system installed. No other car I've been in compares to it.

You have no right to question what people spend there money on simply because you don't care as much about it.

I this good enough to get me by? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0053KWDES/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A34JWT04R7KMFW
that just an amp here http://www.amazon.com/electronics/dp/B003N0XDT4

Also I listen to a lot of bass-heavy electro and house kinda stuff.
its brickmans head if hes telling me that dac is good, hes helping
That looks pretty good. One of my friends has a Fiio DAC. They really like it. For bass heavy stuff, you might want to look into Beyerdynamic. They're known for being into the bassier side of things. Sony (used to be) pretty good, and V-Moda has some good things going for it. I heard good things from V-moda.

those piece of stuff beats

I could never spend that much on headphones or audio simply because it is impossible to find specs on headphones or what they even really mean. No matter how much I have tried to read up I still feel uninformed, and I have no idea how much actual difference there would be in two pairs of headphones and how much of the difference would just be placebo because one is more expensive or a more "name" brand.

EDIT: Too recommendation-based for me.

up your budget and get electrostats
Sony MDR-v6

Beats Studios go for around $300. They sound great.

Do you need a portable DAC? I've heard that Fiio is the best way to go if you really need it to be portable, but you should consider something else if you just want to listen at home.
I've heard good stuff about the Schiit Audio, for example their Modi + Magni combo.

You could also look for a O2/ODAC combo, but it is a bit expensive for your budget.

Personally, I have a chinese AUNE X2. I'm satisfied with it so far, even though I don't have anything else to compare it to. It raised the soundquality a few notches from the motherboard soundchip though. You can get it on amazon for $200, but I think that's a bit expensive. I got it from a local retailer for $200, including a (good) pair of headphones.

As for cans, I really second Momentums list. Those are all reputable headphones which offer alot of value for their money. The Sony and Beyer are probably the most bass heavy ones, if you're into that.

If you're on a budget, you should look into the Takstar Pro 80. They're basically Beyer DT770 rip-offs from China, but with surprising value. Some people have called them the best headphones for < $50. Read this thread for more information. Oh, and don't be afraid about the suspicious looking webshop; it's safe. I (and most other people in the Takstar thread) bought the cans from there.

Edit: You should probably consider going to a local shop that sells this kind of stuff and have a listen to their phones and DACs. That way you can decide what sounds good to your ears. Oh, and bring your own music!
