9000 Blocklanders would go around screaming "HAAAX"  if the blf went down again.

Badspot switched the forums over to a new host.
For some reason, on this new host, the search function is making the forums slower.
It makes no sence to me, but for a few days, the search button was removed and trying to go directly to the search link would redirect you to the home page.
People started flooding the forums, and Badspot re-added it.
He has no idea what's going on and he's spending a large amount of his time trying to fix it.

happens sometimes to me, some days it's really bad and sometimes it's fine

No.

The search function has always decreased the performance on the forums, new servers or old.
He removed it because it put us to the point the forums would time out, the forums while the search feature was gone were still very slow.
I highly doubt he's spent more than an hour worrying about the forums running slow, at first he blamed a DDoS attack but as I already stated a DDoS attack that continues steady for months from someone in this community is not something I believe.

You realize that when you open a website you get the IP address of the computer it is hosted on, right?

Mine are always 0.2 seconds or less

also i bet everyone knew this already but if a page randomly takes a long time to load here's how to fix it
- stop the page from loading
- go to another page on the forums (going to the front page works best)
- go to the page you were originally trying to get to
at least, it works for me
