Bisjac, pefu... The reason you guys haven't come to a resolution yet (huehue, a pun) is because you forgot one very important thing: pixel density. Monitors, in general, have higher pixel densities than TVs for several reasons. A couple are:
Nearly 100% of the time you will be at least 5/7 or more feet away from your TV (if you're using it as a TV). Not true for monitors.
On a computer, you're not having data streamed to it wirelessly most of the time. Untrue for TVs. Most of the time, using a TV involves streaming data from somewhere, and the less data downloaded, the faster it displays it on your screen. Thus, lower screen res.
