okay, here's how you do this cleanly

right click opens a gui client side, with buttons with pictures and stuff that you click on to select spells, perhaps by submenus
right click > offensive, defensive, utility > left click > list of spells in grid maybe?  > left click again

bam done

three clicks and you've selected your spell. fast, easy, intuitive

client mod is the best way to make this work well and look good. it's as simple as that. make it so that when you have it out, pressing the numbers on your keyboard changes the spell, or right clicking brings up a radius menu or something.

make them use the thing via /commands if they don't have the client mod. after getting their ass whooped by people with the mod they'll download it real quick

this is exactly it, if you can get mouse movements (right click then swipe downward to select utilities FOR EXAMPLE) then you'll have the best loving mod in blockland right loving there i'm not even loving joking
