I'm not saying they'll choose an animal over an actual family member.
But most will certainly choose their pets over any other physical property, and for some will weigh them as highly as their own lives.
You can't choose how love works, even if it is with animals. That's just how it goes.
ill choose my house over a dog
I'll choose my computer over a dog
i'll choose my everything over a dog
but i still love my dog
