Author Topic: Controller support  (Read 1438 times)

Have you ever even heard of bullet magnetism
Blockland doesn't use that and should never be implemented, ESPECIALLY if it applies only to gamepad users. If you want to use an inaccurate control scheme, you get inaccurate bullets. Tough luck, this isn't a console shooter. It's a PC sandbox game. It wasn't designed to be gamepad-friendly and all downsides of using a controller over a mouse and keyboard are things you should and will have to deal with. It would be stupid to change the game to cater to the 1% of people used to stuffbox 360 shooters, as opposed to the 99% who are fine with sane controls.

Should there be an option for people who are somehow better with a stick than a mouse? Absolutely. It's your choice if you want to make yourself worse. Personally, I find using a Gamecube controller for certain gamemodes (particularly platformers) to be fun, but it's not something that should affect other people's experience.

how the heck would it affect other people's exp and I hate xbox360 you gotta pay for stupid xbox gold, why the heck do you think I switched to steam? I might even get a steam machine someday i just want blockland to support game controllers I've never said blockland should switch to game controllers only when the steam machine comes and I know people prefer mouse and keyboard but some of us dont
And what is your problem with all raging with the #2 word and stuff and there are games that allow you to PLAY games with certain things like roblox, on robloxyou can play the games but cannot build or make them

very off topic and it's just a minor edit

Changing the topic from "Re: Controller support" to "Replys [sic]" is not a 'minor edit'.

People think it is a new topic, and not to mention people have been BANNED for doing so. Im sure your fine, but dont do it next time

It would affect other people's experience if you add cheating (bullet magnetism) into the game. I was fine with it until you mentioned that. Also, I wasn't raging... at all... I was just stating that if it is created, it shouldn't affect the game for anyone but controller users. And you shouldn't expect some kind of compensation for using an inaccurate control scheme, like bullet magnetism.

By the way, there was not a single period in your post. It is virtually unreadable.

The only reason FPS games are possible on consoles is because of aim assist. And no, turning it off doesn't turn it off, it just lessens the effect.

If you introduce any sort of aim assist in blockland, then you just created an exploitable aimbot.

bullet magnetism will only be allowed when the controller is detected
And I played with joytokey, its easy you just need high sensitivity and you only need to move the stick a little also takes 2 days to get used to

Most of the weapons on blockland have a projectile instead of a raycast, so it would be pointless anyway.

No. Bullet magnetism/aim assist is outright cheating no matter who you are or what controls you have; it's only fair if everyone gets it and then nobody would require skill. If you want to use a controller, you deal with its limitations. Besides, you could easily fool the game into thinking you're using a controller when you aren't.
