Sleep paralysis happens every night; it's what keeps you from acting out your dreams in your sleep. The thing about lucid dreaming (or what you're thinking of is reaching lucidity by using the WILD technique) is that you're not supposed to be awake during sleep paralysis.

Fun stuff.

Also, on a more related note...

OP, did you or your parents bring anything new into the house when your night-terrors started? Any object at all, large or small?
speaking of lucid dreaming, the biggest risk is looking into a loving mirror in the dream

that stuff's on another level of terrifying yo

i had a dream a skunk was trying to chase and spray me :(

i buried it in snow and I felt bad so I uncovered its face because i didnt want it to die but that mofo dug its way out and chased me again so I took a stick and smacked it in the side and it started to chase me again so I ran inside my friends house and everything was ok :)

Ever done it? I think it varies from person to person. I've looked in mirrors in my dreams and haven't had any adverse effects.

im not sure if i ever did it, but my friend told me he once saw himself in a mirror in a dream
he was extremely traumatized for some reason

he saw betel

betel is the very essence of forget
im pretty sure hes talking about his cat named betel but yeah if you see him in your dreams some weird stuff will happen.
i'll probably have nightmares of that stuff betel spammed today though.

OT:you must overcome your stress to fight the dream

the first step is to find your enemy, which is causing the stress and try to fight it.
when you build up your strength against the stress, you can surely defeat the nightmare and never experince it again.

huh, you act like it's an option.

i can't bring myself to hit lucidity for some reason. maybe I should risk it and try the WILD technique.

i only lucid dreamt once
it was this time i fell asleep reading the forums
i had this weird ass dream where everyone started video chatting and my computer had legs and walked around the room

when i realised it was a dream i just flew away and fired lasers at civilisation
