Steam is not downloading games?

I've been trying to download Hawken. The game adds to my steam library, it indicates that its downloaded, but really isn't.
When i try to open it, it says missing executable. Yes, I've tried to download other games too but they do the same thing. I tried deleting the clienregistry.blob.

have steam verify the files
right click game, properties, and something related to 'verify installation' should be in there somewhere.
