Author Topic: Hosting 2 Dedicated Servers from same IP  (Read 815 times)

My brother and I both play Blockland, and want to host our own servers. However, when he starts his server, and then I start mine, his turns into mine. For example - He starts "Agent Red's Freebuild!", and has it running for a while. Later, I start my server, and name it "Cruxeis' Grapple Knife". If you open another Blockland, his server doesn't exist, and it says "Agent Red's Grapple Knife" - it gets swapped. Also, when this happens, and he connects to the switched one, it says "Agent Red has become Super Admin (Host)". However, when I connect to his (if it's up and working as his), it doesn't do that to me. Does this have anything to do with ports? And if so, can I change them so that we will be running two different servers? Or is there anything I can do?

They cannot run on the same port.

Just forward two different ports. Let him use 28000 and you can use 28001. Forward both of them, change the port of your server in the advanced options menu when you go to start your server.

Two servers can't run on the same port.

You should probably separate the server by at least 100 ports. I'm fairly certain that clients connect on additional ports above the main server one.

No, all clients connect to the same port.

That's why you only have to forward one.

You guys are amazing. Thanks! I probably went a little overboard, but I kept mine at 28000, and changed his to 27500.

I don't think that is a wise option.
As you can see here:
http://portforward.com/cports.htm
Elite Force is the game using the port 27500

Now, it might not give you any problems unless you also are going to run an Elite Force server on that computer.
But it might be wiser to choose a port between 28000 and 28030 just to be on the safe side.

I sincerely doubt he would host an Elite Force server considering the game is virtually nonexistent.
Search it up on google, the closest you'll get is a Star Trek game that was made in 2001(also an unlikely thing to be hosted).
