Author Topic: Programs for making videos?  (Read 682 times)

I know we've got some good video makers around here, and I need some info. Due to internet issues my entire life, I have never made a video and watched very few. Planning months in advance for a promotional video (if it works out, it'll be released for public viewing).

Now I don't need any actual footage (I don't think) so fraps and cameras shouldn't be necessary. Can I make videos using a program just using frames, images, text editors, and gifs (as well as inserting music files).

Thanks.

or ezvid (if you dont care for no sound from video aside from ezvid songs)

even though it costs a fortune and is probably hard to learn, try sony vegas

Cost will likely be an issue for anything I get. And yeah if its hard for someone whose been around videos all the time I wouldn't stand a chance with it .

Sony Vegas is powerful and rather easy to use. Obviously buying the professional version is out of the question, but luckily they sell a more typical-consumer version of it called Vegas Movie Studio. It only costs around the $60 range, and only lacks a couple of professional features.

Windows Live Movie Maker is actually pretty alright, and I think it's free, and very user friendly

Is that the same thing Koopa suggested? I'm liking that one best right now, but still looking.

WMM and WLMM are two different things. I think the first one might have only been for XP though, so chances are the Live one is what you're looking at

I use 7.

One other thing, can it be used offline?

Vegas seems to crash a ton, (Its not only me, freek has had the issue too from what I've heard) idk if that's because I'm using an old version, but the newer versions seem simplified and dumb.
Adobe Premiere I haven't tired at all, it seems a bit like after effects, but it doesn't crash as much as Vegas. Just more complicated.
I like vegas more though, I've taken a class in it and I've gotten to learn it unlike Premiere

Although, if you turn off GPU acceleration it crashes less, it makes it harder to use, just slower.
