And you can't fault goetze for such a well executed and technical strike, especially since the defense gave him so much space. Both teams played very well but in the end I'm just relieved that the world cup final wasnt decided by penalty kick shootout

i think that you're looking too hard at his fist to notice whats going on in the scene
this is a foul, since the goalkeeper straight up jumped at him and hit him with his whole body in an attempt to take the ball out

That's not a foul. The goalie got the ball. The goalie is allowed to take people out in challenges.

that is allowed only if the goalie secures the ball and doesnt use unnecesary force, in this case, the goalie only punched it out of play and literally jumped into the other player

Except the German team today includes players from what was then East Germany, as well as Saarland.
It's semantics really, but by definition, only half of Germany has won the World Cup 4 times. The eastern half has only won once, in this win.

I'm super glad Germany won but I would have rather had a Germany-Netherlands match up since that would have been super white and a way tougher call for who to cheer on based on ethnic/national heritage.

Argentina isn't so bad of a match up though since they have a heavy German presence in the country.
