yeah i've got hypermobility in my fingers, knees, and i'm starting to notice it in my elbows as well. i've had the pains in my hips since october of last year but now i'm noticing some joint swelling developing and pain when i press on the joints giving me trouble. the specialist i saw last month said that if i started to get those symptoms, then there was a good chance it meant i was developing something like arthritis.
I suppose increased mobility could lead to a more rapid erosion of cartilage, or simply damage the joints, and bring on osteoarthritis earlier. Even so, at your age that's very very early, even given your condition, seeing as how in most individuals it comes around at the ages of 60+.
But I'm not a doctor, so I wouldn't know for sure. I'd certainly hope you don't develop osteo. My mother has Rheumatoid Arthritis, which she developed a couple years ago (although it's not development like osteoarthritis, since it's triggered, rather than developing over time), and despite having being on numerous
DMARDs and combinations of them, plus prescriptive pain killers, she still suffers with the constant pain in her joints. RA is different to Osteo, but the pain is pretty similar, in severity and rate.
I know she'd never wish it on anyone, so I hope that it doesn't go that way for you.
