I have the exact opposite problem. I can't gain weight. Literally any snack I eat goes straight through me. Even constantly eating junk food wouldn't help me gain weight :/

That's terrible. How do you live with yourself?

Honestly OP, just turn off the computer and go do something else. Hopefully it'll be active.

Great thanks, now I'm going to think about that again.

ahahah

I am a couch potato and I spend most of my days on the computer. I occasionally go for a walk and it just feels good.

Don't feel bad about it, I recommend taking a 10 minute walk each morning to start out. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise you can get, and easiest. You don't have to work out to lose weight. Also eating less fried foods, frozen foods, and sweets will help. Reducing the amount of soda you intake is important too. I also recommend trying to join a local sports team, or taking up a job (even a volunteer job) to keep you busy. Best of luck with losing some pounds, and I know you can do it.

Being too skinny can be just as bad as being too fat. People want balance (although becoming "too skinny" is much harder)

man i got u bro im a workout/training fr33k

The first tip I can give you, is to stop li-
stop listening to tyler the creator
yeah that

Second tip: get into a habit of doing a basic workout routine and stretches soon after you wake up, ie a few pushups and crunches, and add more reps as it becomes easier

Tip 3: set up a great workout playlist on your mp3/ipod/whatever mobile music player you have; find music that makes you want to move and/or will motivate you. This should be easy b/c you spend a lot of time sitting at a computer anyway, this kind of gives you a guiltless reason to do it for a while anyway, and helps you ease out of not spending so much time in front of a screen

Tip 4: figure out your somatotype using this: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=137136643
it will describe how you can optimize your workouts(particularly weightlifting/bodybuilding) based on which type fits you best. Despite the clustered layout, I like this resource a lot, because it is one of the few that doesn't describe ectos as weak and skinny, endos as fat and lazy, and mesos as perfect elites, because that's all false

Tip 5: just find out what you like to do(soccer, distance running, lifting, martial arts, biking, etc). Try anything and everything, if you find something to do that you enjoy then you'll never have that "ugh I have to workout/train" attitude

Tip 6: don't tell yourself "You can do it," tell yourself "I can do it." Doesn't sound like it will help much, but for endurance things like distance running it makes a big difference

Tip 7: in order to gain muscle mass you need a lot of both protein and calories mixed with consistent training

Tip 8: make and complete many small yet reasonably challenging goals

Tip 9: ignore the haters

Tip 10: muscle milk

i've considered taking up biking because i'm developing arthritis and running/walking puts me in  ton of pain. the only downside is that biking incorrectly can take the fun out of the lady bits down there :(
What sort of arthritis? I'm assuming osteo, if you're developing it. That's a rare form of arthritis for young people (although it can happen). You have hypermobility, I think you've said before, right?

@zloff
forget muscle milk, make a SMOOTHIE out of it, with yogurt, fruit, vegetables, and cereal.

well you metabolism is usual at it's prime during the teen years so whynaut.

yeah i've got hypermobility in my fingers, knees, and i'm starting to notice it in my elbows as well. i've had the pains in my hips since october of last year but now i'm noticing some joint swelling developing and pain when i press on the joints giving me trouble. the specialist i saw last month said that if i started to get those symptoms, then there was a good chance it meant i was developing something like arthritis.
