Author Topic: Who would play a Mount and Blade server?  (Read 2301 times)

Right I'll just go ahead and explain how I would make a Mount and Blade style server.

There's a whole map split up into different areas like snowy/desert/flatlands/hills. It'll all be made out of mod terrain. The towns will also be made from Mod Terrain.
There will be 6 teams, each team has a different colour horse.
You spawn in a random town. You cannot leave the town until someone has come to find you, although you can test out weapons in the armoury in the town (each town will have an armoury) There will be 6 leaders. (with a /becomeleader command) if there is maximum number of leaders, you cannot become a leader but a soldier in someone's warband.
The leaders must then roam the land, and visit towns to find people to recruit. Each town will also have a store where you can buy weapons (use deadzone's weapon pack or something like it).
When visiting a town you get to the gate, activate it and a small promt comes up and asks if you'd like to either visit the store with your warband or recruit peasants.
If you select peasents, all the people in that town will get a chat message saying "PlayerName is looking for more warriors to join their warband! /accept to join them!"
If the player says /accept, they will then be recruited into the warband, and will be given a starting dagger, a few coins and a perma horse with the colour of the nation.
The warband then walks around the map, attacking other warbands and visiting towns to recruit townsmen / to buy weapons.

That's my idea that I've quickly thought of. I'm sure it wouldn't be TOO hard to script. If anyone wants to take on my idea, let me know, I could help you out with ideas/building.

-snip-

That's a good idea. I heard you were trying to make that at some point.

What I hope to accomplish with implementing MERP features into this idea is to have advancing and expanding nations.

While a player scaled Mount and Blade server would definitely have the combat nailed, I'm more interested in a Mount and Blade server that recreates the large world campaign with multiple players. With that you have the technology, culture, empire expansion and advancing of a MERP, and based off the gameplay of Mount and Blade as best as it can be. I also hope to have world events that will break the routine and cause havoc for the players based on how good they are at improvising on the spot. It seems to me that you could only have a few of the best parts of Mount and Blade in Blockland. It has potentail for a good server, though.

Eh its an idea that I just came up with now, and could definitely done with mod terrain and a scripter.

I'm being dead serious when I say that if you put forth the effort into making a Mount and Blade server like the one you described, it would fetch many times more players than the GTA V server you're making.

Atleast I think so.

I've got experience with mod terrain, im also a huge m&b jockey with over 500 hours in it.
If you do decide to do this contact me via pm or steam.

Well you kinda just pulled that estimate out of no where, I think they'd attract just as much as each other.
Maybe this warband idea is something that I may use in the future, but for now I'm getting ready to host GTA in a week.

k

I was thinking that currency and food could be physical, and you just place them on your belonging's dup-plate.
That would create quite alot of lag though

DO IT FURDLE!
I appreciate the support but I don't have time as I'm stuck with the GTA server and my university work. However I'd help anyone who decides to put in the work for my idea and has the coding resources to complete it to a standard which I approve of.
