How can it be used to accurately model the spread of infections if nobody ever realizes anyone anywhere is infected. That's asinine.
Computer viruses can lay dormant for months, or even years before activating. It's totally reasonable. Of course it's not the same kind of thing, but again, as I said, it's just speculation.
