Author Topic: Blockland Central Hub  (Read 2130 times)

Anyone remember this? I found the old one on RTB by Lilboarder, however it's still coded for the version before shaders, so I think it just plainly doesn't work.

I'd love to see this continued, I've always wanted to give Blockland a Hub, brings a bit more liveliness to the menu.

Yes, that. The Shaders update broke this, I'd like to see it at least fixed.
Was a pretty good concept, and I myself could imagine the possibilities of hubs.

what did this mod even do

I think it booted up a single player server on startup and loaded the "Hub" which had parts of this build that functioned with the various parts of the regular menu, like the Join Server or Tutorial buttons

i don't remember it ever doing anything of the sort

i remember this!

basically what it did is that on startup, it would go to a single player game. this would load a save (which you can even make yourself if you want), which serves as an ingame explorable version of the main menu. i used to play around with this, like i made a little house, in it a bed where if you click it you would "go to sleep" (exit the game) and a computer that opens the server menu.

Yes! I adored the idea, and I haven't done much with it, I'd very much like to now! Possibly even re create some hubs from other games or create original ones. There could be a gallery thing for this type of thing possibly?

Livemenu just boots a server up and has a bot walking around a build in real time. You can't interact with it, it's basically like Half Life 2's main menu
I do like it better than the Hub but it does increase my load time a little

Oh, that is a pretty interesting idea in its own, however!

Not quite what I was looking for but a nice find for menu-related things nevertheless. Before we resume the "Central Hub" part

Port, do you mind if I modify client_LiveMenu and release it if I give you credits?
I want to have it essentially completely remove the current saving system of BL and allow the user 1 save that saves whenever they leave or every 5-10 minutes, and make the mod always load that save, and if the user wants to have their own server, they can just press start game and the menu is removed and they're in the server that livemenu already started.

Whatever happened to this guy?
