Author Topic: Chance of tumbling when taking damage below 50% HP, also slowing down  (Read 1337 times)

I was thinking of this, and it would be cool if someone made a mod where the player would have a high chance of tumbling if they start losing health past 50% of their original health. Say you get shot all the way down to 50% health, then if you get shot more, say to 35%, every time you take more damage, you have the risk of tumbling over. This would add realism to those who run realistic servers or whatever. I thought of this while shooting at some bots, kind of a neat idea if you think about it.

The reason being that if you're below 50% health, the game gets HARDER, causing you to lose MORE health. If you're screwed, the game punishes you by screwing you more. This is the opposite of good design. Good design should never be sacrificed for realism.

I'm going to be working on a gamemode and the way I constructed it would make use of this type of mod, that's why I'm posting here. This effect adds pretty much a more difficult element to the game, instead of get shot 30 times and are able to move around and be fine. I'd be cool to have it slow the player down too.
I'm trying to make a realistic TDM and along with some extremely realistic functioning weapons, I figured some game mechanics that would stimulate realism and difficulty would add a pretty nice touch to it, IMO.

If you want the weapons to be that realistic then make it so that you die after getting shot one or two times.

How about making this only for the bots?sorta like GTA V when you shoot a cop in the leg and he stumbles.

You might as well just have everyone only have half health

Also, tumble physics are horrible

i'd actually be fine with that too, but I prefer a mod that affects players anyways.

i can't see tumbling working out too well. blockland physics are iffy, i can see many problems. how about the player is just slowed down, or maybe "downed" for a bit, like those zombie gamemodes/left4dead but only for a second, then they can get back up on their own?

actually that sounds better, given that the tumbling is buggy apparently.

but I want this too but I don't think tumbling will work, maybe crouching?
