I wonder if it was in use during the earliest renditions of the game, or borrowed from another community.

Or, it might just have been a spontaneous thing that a few people used and others used too.

I suppose Sandbox is an alternative, but maybe that doesn't roll to well when you admit you're playing a Sandbox server on a Sandbox game??

It also contrasts with "Themebuild" quite well, so maybe there's a link there?
It's certainly a good term.

No? Blockland Vanilla was an alpha version of Blockland and was exclusively f2p. It was dry in features so mods came around, but the mods were also free.
