where did the term "freebuild" come from?

i recently began to wonder on how the term "freebuild" came to be

i mean, now it's an official gamemode, and before that there were lots of people hosting "freebuilds". they could've easily called it "sandbox" or something.

so how did the term "freebuild" begin?

I actually was thinking the same thing this morning, especially at how Badspot officially incorporated the phrase in V21 when he created the "Freebuild" game mode. I think it was generally a term which has been around since the start. I'm pretty sure in the 8 years I've played Blockland, it's always been around.

Well because you can freely build anything I guess, and it's like a random name people make, like...

Back in vanilla when Badspot was called Goodspot you could only join servers that weren't freebuilds if you had Blockland Gold.
