Unless you're being sarcastic you might wanna re-read my post. If rtb didn't shut down I wouldn't have found steam as an alternative and I obviously wouldn't have new vegas.

now that I think about it I think I learned about steam right around when v21 was released, but if I recall correctly I was strongly against getting it and just forgot about it until the whole rtb fiasco happened.

Yeah I do too, but how can you use the internet without hearing about Steam? Pretty much every forumer here has a Steam link in there signature, and im pretty sure alot of other people who use forums do too
