The Rigs of Rods Website
Rigs of Rods is an open source vehicle simulator licensed under the GNU General Public License version 3. What makes Rigs of Rods different to most simulators is its unique soft-body physics: vehicles, machines, objects, etc. are simulated in real-time as flexible soft-body objects, giving the simulation an extremely accurate behavior which entirely depends on the physical construction of the vehicles or objects you create. The community contributes greatly to the game, giving it a vast selection of vehicles and terrains from which you can choose.

Mods
Rigs of Rods is a highly modifiable game. You can make your own vehicles and maps, or download vehicles ranging from airplanes to ships to street cars to helicopters.
There is also a very large selection of maps, you can pick from deserts, cities, mountains, and much more.
Both maps and vehicles can be download from the repository.
These are some websites that contain some pretty cool cars to use.

Features...

Soft-body physics based on mass-spring-damper model
Advanced flight model based on blade element theory allowing accurate simulation of any airplane, based entirely on its physical dimensions and wing airfoils, similar to X-Plane
Accurate buoyancy model based on elemental pressure gradients, enabling boats with complex hulls to move realistically through waves
Supports scripting using AngelScript
Multiplayer
Wheels, gamepads and joysticks are supported, including Force Feedback effects
Advanced graphical effects thanks to OGRE3D engine
Positional 3D audio and HRTF support thanks to OpenAL Soft

Media
Rigs of Rods does not have the largest community. However, there is an abundance of YouTube videos showcasing the crash physics.
You can discover some of the videos using RoR here.

Questions
Q: How do I install mods?
A: Go to your documents folder and open the Rigs of Rods folder. You should see something called "packs". All mods go into that folder.
Q: I don't have a shortcut to Rigs of Rods on my desktop!
A: You can go through the Program Files (x86) section of your computer by going to Windows8_OS (C:) or by going through "Storage".
Look through it to find "Rigs of Rods".
When you go through the RoR folder, open "RoR.exe" to play Rigs of Rods.

Troubleshooting
If you have any questions, crashes, or errors, you can always go to the wiki.

Rigs of Rods requires a very powerful PC. If you lower the graphics settings and you have a very weak computer, still expect a low FPS while driving.

is this a joke? look at the amazing textures of this ''sand''

It's due to how much stuff is running at once, yeah the game looks like wet buttery ass but some of the detailing on the vehicles will cause your FPS to tank.

It isn't a joke. It's an old piece of technology that isn't well optimised. Plus, soft-body physics is taxing.

I honestly think beamNG does a better job

Soft body physics can be very intensive on the hardware.
I honestly think beamNG does a better job
IIRC BeamNG drive is made by the same people who did this. Yes, Beam is better, but Rigs of Rods is free while Beam is paid so it has that going for it.
