Say if there was a random hole in the wall/floor/ceiling, and you don't want to go through all the trouble manually filling it up yourself which can take 5 minutes because you're a lazy forget. All you gotta do it get larger dimensions for that wall/floor/ceiling like a baseplate of something, and then when you plant the brick/plate in the hole, that hole will be filled with generated bricks and/or plates
