If you want to try it just open Steam in Big Picture mode. It's basically just Linux with Steam installed.

It's Debian GNU/Linux with some changes and a bunch of things pre-installed, including Steam.
Generally, you'd want to use Windows. There's not really a whole lot of support for gaming on Linux yet.
Also its really unfinished.

Well it's a form of linux that runs in big picture mode. This means it has a linux level of compatibility with games. Essentially most of your games probably wouldn't work on it. So pretty much yeah it is stuff, for now at least.
