Author Topic: Steam workshop  (Read 838 times)

I like getting mods for this game, but I don't like having to manually install them, so I suggest that the creator adds the steam workshop for the game so you don't have to install them automatically.

I think a Steam Workshop is planned to be added at some point, but i don't know when that will ever happen

You don't even have to "manually install" mods for this game. When downloading items you could force it to download to a specific file path without dragging and dropping. It's literally the same thing as the steam workshop.

Manually installing was back in V8 where you had to manually put texture files in the correct folder, same as sounds, particles, etc and if one add-on had a texture with the same name stuff will get overwritten. Manually installing does not exist anymore.

The installation nowadays is pretty simple.  Just drag Add-Ons to your Add-Ons folder, and drag music to the Music folder.

Exactly.

Fallout 3 still uses the archaic installation method of instead of using .ZIP files you have to place sounds, pictures, meshes in their correct individual folder. Which is why services like Nexus Modmanager are needed. Blockland doesn't need this with its simplified setup.

It doesn't need it, but it's definitely good to have other options that also make things easier

The OP is an example of the people out there who play this game and are either not used to Blockland's (simple) method of installing mods, or they just don't want to have to deal with it and would much prefer a more straight forward method that only requires a single click

As Blockland is a Steam game, it could only benefit from the addition of a workshop, one-click add-on installation/deletion (if coded), and they wouldn't even have to go out of their way to find the BLF's Add-Ons section or the many RTB archives out there to look for mods

It would be easier to search for add-ons. I could take me hours to find one specific add-on on this forum and then I find out the link is busted. The topic being too old to post in so I can't even reply.

This installation methods was back in 0002 mods of BL
Pre-v9 had everything in the add-on in one folder, but you had to extract the zips and people would mess up that step.

Connecting to a server then having to download files to 'Add-Ons > Add-Ons > shapes'

The horror... the horror...

I also apparently have a directory for the Stunt Plane that is 'Add-Ons\Shapes\Add-Ons\shapes\Add-Ons\shapes\'...
