Im in school for Game Design and Development and we talk about this ever now and again. Though, I can never make up my mind about where I would want to go after this is all said and done. Indie is nice because like in the name, you're independent but in Triple A you (mostly) know when you're going to be able to feed yourself.

So BLF, Indie or Triple A development?

well, being involved with the development of triple A is going to take a lot longer and isn't guaranteed that you'll find that kind of job

I know a couple of guys working for a game dev here in Australia and they say it's pretty draining compared to working on your own projects. Having constraints on your creativity can be challenging for a lot of people and I wouldn't want to do it personally.

I also wouldn't want to try and sustain my lifestyle being an indie dev. I do bank/finance consultancy for a living and have started getting into game/app dev on the side.

Game development in general seems like a high skill but low pay field, especially in the world of technology and computer science. At the very least it means a lot of people in the field are very passionate about what they do. Then I imagine the poor souls who had to program all the stuffty shovelware titles on the Wii for a living...
