Author Topic: [TRIGGER WARNING] how does religion exist in educated first world countries?  (Read 28948 times)

well, that's not what the bible says... so...
even if you think it's a metaphor, I don't see any way genesis could possibly be interpreted as a metaphor for the big bang

Its not, but it was created around 2500 years ago.

Just like with the stories (if you're christain) Jesus told, they weren't true, they were dumbed down stories to represent something for people who had no literacy and barely knew much. The men who followed Jesus were mostly poor or middle class, they didn't go and learn like we do in first world countries.

lol looks like someone hasn't taken any religious classes at all

If you actually paid attention in your own religion's classes, most of the teachers will tell you the creation stories are in-fact BS stories. The only thing they say is that God created everything. For all we know God started the Big Bang expansion of the universe.

They've always laid it on pretty thick that God created everything 6000 years ago for me.

What the stuff are you talking about?

That sounds stupid on multiple levels

LOL, cop-out classes. As someone from a religious background and seeing both sides of the argument, that explanation is only for the Christians with no respect for themselves or their Faith (can hardly call them christians at all at that point)  :cookieMonster:

i swear its like some people out there don't even read the bible and just spout off nonsense because "religion makes me angwey grrr!!!"

Okay I guess we should just believe something from over 2500 years ago that was written by some rich starfish kings that have been proven wrong over and over again. Its either that, change religions, or actually make sense of something.

That's it I'm going full agnostic

Goes to show you've never fully understood the concepts of scripture in the first place. You really are better off with agnosticism.

"these wounds they will not heal"

couldn't handle the overwhelming evidence that he's dense.
Now now... He says he's going to research. Let's wait until he comes back before we make assertions. If he still can't prove it when he comes back and he STILL refuses to change his mind, then we can say he's stubborn.
