Author Topic: Would Martin Luther King Day exist if he never got assassinated?  (Read 976 times)

He definitely wouldn't have his own holiday if he wasn't assassinated, but he would still be a prominent figure in American history and we'd still learn about him in history class like we do other members of the civil rights movement.

This was still a huge event in the movement years before he was killed.

I was only taught about Harriet Tubman and MLK.

if he was still alive, probably not

but why do some of you think it would be on a different day if there was one and he had not been assassinated? MLK day celebrates his birthday, not his assassination

And not Rosa Parks?

And not Rosa Parks?

I had to learn about Rosa Parks through The Boondocks.
