sm64 glitching and speedrunning is loving insane

look at this stuff
I wonder if anyone will ever get that $1000.

One day. Maybe not today, but one day.

Watched the whole video start to finish and payed attention.

Man, he is serious about screwing with the mechanics of SM64, like god damn.

This is why bullying exists. Or existed. God help this world.

we should try and mass replicate the bug and split the money

marty

we need to go back

to de facto qpu speed

this guy probably learned all he knows about physics from mario 64, there is no way he had enough time to go to school

i expected that to be a lot more complicated than it actually was

neato

So, does the fact that this is possible mean SM64 is a badly coded game (or even a bad game), or is this just par for the course, given the then technical and physical constraints of the engines and technology of the time?

it's mostly taking advantage of the way that computers handle numbers. you could probably argue that the programmers coding the physics to have that vulnerability is poor practice or something but i expect it was a pretty well-made decision based on technical limitations, and a pretty safe one considering the only way this would happen is if someone purposefully broke the game to build up ridiculous amounts of speed. i bet you could find similar issues in plenty of games
