Tomorrowland is exactly what New Years should be like. I've always wanted to make some sort of show like Disneyland's fireworks or World of Color as well, but those are far more specific where as something like Tomorrowland can just have a ton of small projectile/emitter presets to launch off in time with the music. I have seen a very good and long fireworks show in Blockland, but I forgot who made it. If anyone knows please tell me as I'd love to get my hands on it. (It ended with "That's all Folks!")

New Year's 2016 was entirely underwhelming, I hope you guys can come up with more exciting things to do, as most people quickly got bored and left. Perhaps consider Halloween Fest, Spade's Arcade, and other servers where players actually have things to do.

fyi timing particle effects with music is actually impossible in bl because music's current time is not synced to clients and the latency would absolutely kill it

Tell that to the guy that made a show. If players have already spawned before the music starts it's usually pretty accurate. A client mod that is sent a start signal would be the best solution though (would also avoid long music download times).

Has anybody ever tried to re-make Time Square in BL?


Even though the pic OP posted looks amazing, I feel re-making time square would be awesome, and it shouldn't be too big so you get a feeling of a big crowd.

This is a great idea! Any sort of large city area could work well for a New Years server. It would be nice to be outside for a change.

Here's a good shot of Times Square from a player's perspective. Having enterable areas in the surrounding buildings would be awesome.

Getting past torque's light limit will be a challenge though, maybe emitters as lights and glow fx might work.
