I've had the game on my wishlist for just over a year now.

I'm interested in it, but I never bothered to get it at the time because there seemed very little to actually do.

Has much changed now? When last I saw you were pretty much just building castles, and I think you could make like catapults, but all in a creative mode.

It has a nice survival now. And it is amazing how must stuff you can do if you get creative. It gets old fast unless you set a goal for yourself
Its gameplay is slow enough to make it last but not slow enough to make it annoying. I'd be happy to help you if you got it.
Forgot to mention it has a hunger and stamina mechanic.

New update every Tuesday. Survival has been out for a bit, they also plan on adding 'planets' which means the world will be a whole planet like in Space Engineers. This will open the possibility up to have multiple kingdoms that fight.

Survival sounds neat, do you build a castle by day and fend off barbarians by night, how does it work?

Barbarian AI is a joke at the moment. It just wonders aimlessly and tries to find a king statue to destroy. As for building you can make a castle or simple house. The block system allows you to make all sorts of neat stuff.
