Author Topic: If Blockland 2 were to come out, what would you want to see in it?  (Read 3046 times)

the only two that come to my mind is garrys mod and minecraft that do any actual heavy modding thats similar to blockland
thing is neither of those are particularly /easy/ to mod for - its not like BL where you can just plonk down scripts ingame and not have to precompile/write/debug stuff before you can start seeing it in action

plus they have huge userbases, compared to our small userbase, but modding in BL is so much easier that you still see a ton of mods released for BL even 10 years later, despite how few modders there are.

I would absolutely love to have animated bricks as well.

I mean, groups of bricks that you can collectively animate in-game via a parent-child-sibling grouping system.  This would enable you to make pistons, steam engines, rotating fans, mechanisms, computer effects, the whole lot.  The same animation tool could be expanded to include sequenced lights and sounds.

EDIT: ...Including emitters, projectiles, and the ability to effect other bricks and vehicles.

Simpler building system, not as tedious as now.

Shaders and maps combined, with less cluttered coding so updating can be a breeze.

More blockhead hats, accessories, faces, basically more options to choose from in general.

More default vehicles, like some generic car, and an option to have old vehicle physics for laughs and giggles.

Also, maybe customizable skies (like the system we have now with shaders) combined with the maps, and map skins (like the Grayscale Bedroom could be an option in a GUI)

Gamemodes would still exist, Custom, Freebuild and what not have a map list to choose from, with a customizable Slate still existing.

These can easily be achieved by the community.

What's wrong with it? How could it be better?

Not a bad idea but you probably won't get the quality fps as you do now. In bold, what are you trying to say? Updating should be fast. If you're talking about add-ons, that's the modder's side.

It takes forever to get something complicated built, making a clone of the default house even takes (although not a lot) of time to build.

Maybe I just need to learn more how to build better, I don't know.

Sure, but I'm thinking about the new Blockheads too, and for like people who just want to use default stuff or something.

Also, I'm pretty sure that hats (not hat mod, the player option in the main menu) can't be modded by the community.

I' talking about that v21 post, the one where kompresser said

These two features complicate Blockland’s code tremendously. That means we can’t add game features very quickly. They still have bugs in them (after years of work).
If this is true, then if maps come back, they need to simpler.
