Can somebody make this image work for me as my profile pic? (Test it out as well after editing to see if it works.)

It's the logo for my favorite toy supercar racing game, Anki Overdrive. Look it up if you don't know what it is (Anki Drive players should know it.)

you may need to refresh your cookies/cache/whatever with f5 after uploading the new profile picture for it to show up.

Thing is though, is that I don't fully understand the way it works. So do I just simply select image and hit Open?

You need to take some image editing program, like Microsoft Paint or Paint.net (a free paint-like image editing software with more features) and open it, and use it to resize the image to 75x75

Imgur also comes with basic image editing abilities like resize, which you can use if you upload the image to your account.
