Just another chance for oil companies to stick their greedy noses into the economy.

Just another chance for oil companies to stick their greedy noses into the economy.

The higher prices were the result of greedy gas station owners, not greedy OPEC (this time around anyway).

As for the "oil companies sticking their noses into the economy"...that doesnt even make sense. The oil companies like  BP and Shell are a crucial part of our economies. They provide hundreds of thousands of jobs and their products are used for everything from powering consumer automobiles to creating plastics used in our electronics.

I think your confusing the US-Based Oil companies with OPEC which is genuinely loving us over. It is really our fault though because we continue to rely on petroleum based products to power our consumer automobiles which is completely unnecessary and extremely costly and wasteful.

There is no magic answer to getting rid of $4 gas and the government should not start subsidizing it. I personally feel that these high prices will encourage people to buy electric vehicles or perhaps use public transport more often.
