Author Topic: Crysis Warhead Performance Problems  (Read 1419 times)

Anyone else having problems with the "enhanced CryEngine2"?

I swear to God, I could run the first one on low settings with absolute no lag, but Warhead is being a bitch and keeps stuttering. Crytek failed to deliver the awesomeness they promised :(

If your computer could only run crysis on low settings, I think I see the problem there.

It could run only on low settings, but it was like 35-40 fps all the time, at 1024x768 resolution.

I'm doing the same thing with Warhead, except it's lagging like stuff a lot. I even lowered the resolution to 800x600, but it's still lagging me.

Thats rather odd, from what I have heard it does offer a small performance boost over the original game...odd.
Ha ha ha. You thought a few engine tweaks for compensate for you having a stuffty computer?  XD

What hardware are you using nick?

If it's lagging about just as much as it was at 1024x768, I'm thinking it might be your processor, but I'm not 100% sure.

Nah, my computer is fine. There's definitely something wrong with the game. If I can run Crysis fine, it can run Warhead fine.
Think about upgrading.
That's why Reactor Worker helped me to make a list of stuff for under $500.
What hardware are you using nick?
Geforce 8600 GT
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 GHz
1 GB RAM

I'm thinking that too, but my 2.2GHz ran Crysis fine.

Update your video drivers
Defragment your hard drive
run CCleaner
Disable AA

Also, what settings are you running it at? Enthusiast? gamer? They make a big difference.

8600GT eh? hmm. Tell me the name/model number of your powersupply, it may be possible for you to add a new GPU in. Also supply the specs for your motherboard.

I'm guessing it is a prebuilt?

1 GB...I'd get another GB. RAM is cheap and that may make a big difference in your case.

EDIT: I really nice upgrade option for you would be to purchase a 9600GT. They sell for just under $100 online and check out these benchmarks...

Your current card is on the left. The 9600GT offers about 3x the performance in most games. Another benefit of the 9600GT is that it is the best value when 2 are combined in SLI. Typically 2 cards in SLI or Crossfire might offer a 20-40% performance boost over a single card. 2 9600GT's in SLI, however, break the mold and can achieve 80-90% extra performance over a single card. That is incredible value.

AA is disabled, obviously. Drivers updated, will defrag tonight. My computer was recently reformatted so everything on it isn't crap.

Minimum, obviously.

I'm not sure about GPU, but I just want a new cpu too. Unfortunately the socket type is not used anymore, only found on AMDs on eBay. All I know is that my motherboard is an EVGA, and my power supply is NZXT.

I'm guessing it is a prebuilt?
Originally it was, it had only 512 MB RAM in it before and a GeForce 6800XT (Playing Crysis with THAT card is like a rat trying to run a few marathons)

I'd LOVE to, but I'm trying to save up for that new computer that you helped me piece together.

I think your options are really limited with your current hardware. Rather than upgrade now, I would save up for that custom one I put together for you.

Exactly :(

I feel that I msut replay to this, but I can not think of anything.
