Prints for vehicles

I think it would be cool if sometime in a update soon (not necessarily v9 if you don't want to) you made it possible to put decals on vehicles changeable by the printer.  For instance, you could use the printer on the ball and have the choices of the stars, a 8 ball, a bolder like texture, a soccer ball, and none.


This would be a really cool feature, and would be great for modders.  For instance, the biplane could have prints that put stars, or other nationality markings on it.  The box truck could have different companies on the sides.  And so on.

More complicated than you think.
Those 'decals' on various vehicles are done through texturing on the model.
This would mean having a new model and textures for every unique decal, and the vehicle would have to be respawned every time you changed the 'decal' so the model would switch.

No, the vehicle would not have to be respawned.  You would just use %vehicle.setSkinName(%skin).

I'm not talking about those 'decals', I'm actually talking about decals.  Torque has the ability to put decals on things, such as you can have decals on the player.  People don't remodel the player every time they add a new chest decal, that would be crazy.  There are simply points on the player that decals are put.  So basically the maker of the vehicle would have to do more work by having to define were decals go, but it would be optional work, that would just add a nice touch to the vehicle...


For instance: The box truck would have the sides defined as decal points.  The biplane would have square areas on the wings as decal points, and so on...

I'm bumping this because I think it is an idea worth merit.  I was looking through my old posts (no real reason...) and I saw this, and though I should bump it, because well, I like the idea.  I think it would work well if you used the printer on the vehicle spawn to set prints.

It would work better if it was made as a main feature of Blockland...
