Author Topic: youtube files won't split stereo track on audacity  (Read 1815 times)

I use Audacity to make .ogg's, and just recently I started accepting song requests. Well here's the thing, I transfer them from youtube to mp3's, and for some reason when I drag them to audacity, it doesn't let me split stereo track, so I wouldn't be able to use them in blockland. (For those of you who have never made .oggs, you need to split stereo track, and then mono both in order for the song to play in blockland.) But I've noticed some other things too. All of my information put together makes:

mp3's that aren't from youtube will allow me to split stereo track.

mp3's from youtube sometimes stretch out the length of the song. (It says the song is 45 minutes long, the songs plays, and then the time that it says is remaining does nothing, it just goes to the next song once through with the actual song.)

I use this site to make them mp3's: (erm... it suddenly disappeared :/ I'll look for it more, but I can't find it right now....)

This is REALLY irritating DX

Could I get a URL to a site that DOES work? Am I doing something wrong? Why does this happen? Please give me an answer.

Go on DVD video soft free video studio
best for all Freeware programs..
they have a new You tube downloader and it rocks
youtube to Mp3
youtube to Video
youtube to PSP-i pod -etc

Arrrrg!!! That's only for PC's!!! PLEASE don't tell me that means I can't make .oggs on a mac (O)_(O)

Just record the sound through Audacity.

WAT? Do you just mean taking a microphone? I'd do that, but it doesn't go up loud enough, so it'll sound really crappy....

No, record it through your sound card.

Play with the options menu, set up the stuff for your sound card, leave the menu, go to where there is a picture of a microphone, click the down arrow, and check mono or stereo mix.

My GOD nothing is easy with blockland >:( I have no idea what a sound card is, or what menu to go to. I suppose it wouldn't be on a mac, but when I search "sound card" in the help menu, all I get is "My computer won't turn on"..... I wish it would just split stereo track :x Can I at least get an explenation as to why that won't work?

click import audio on one of the menus at the top

IDEA: Use the same method I do, record from Stereo Mix when you're viewing the youtube video, then slice off the unwanted parts. Like I do with MY D-Smiley Ball theme... loop. :cookieMonster:

Osht, can't edit in help.
Anyway, also export entire file as .ogg when you're done.

last time I checked, converters give you mono sound, thus you don't need to split stereo.

Why the hell is there no edit in this section.

If your sound card supports it, there is the ability that they were saying, to record anything that the speakers are hearing. It's how I recorded entrepreneur in's and Smash's song.
If you have a Dell then it most likely can't support it.
