Please note i played this for the PC on full settings. (Better than the XBOX and PS3 versions)
Alrighty. where to begin.
Fist off this is my opinion and you're probably going to go and and buy it anyways but oh well.
Anyways, when you first jump into the game you're quite excited you can't wait to play shoot etc. What you're first stuck with is sitting in a car for 15 minutes then lying on a bed with malaria listening to some jerk talk to you. But really that's not a killer to the game.
Storyline: Oh my god..... don't even get me started, first off you have loving malaria, you just have it you have no idea how you got it but you have it and it's killing you. Not only that but you're sent in by some government as a mercenary to kill "The Jackal" who is a arms dealer dealing guns to both sides of the war/fight/stupid fight.I don't even remember why they are fighting anyways. So you have malaria and you want to kill this guy, that's it theres nothing else you need to get pills for you're malaria or you die and supposedly find this stupid jackal guy.
That's all there is there, nothing else except go kill this group etc etc. LAME
Gameplay: Ya shooting the guys is kinda fun i like all the weapons and stuff but here is the main problem, the AI is so stupid it just ruins the fun. After seeing all those videos about silently killing enemies and sniping them from far looked amazing, wrong again, taking out guys silently in the day or at night is just plain crap it's a huge mess up they always shoot at you even if there 50 feet away and you kill some dude with you're knife. Healing works pretty well i can't complain about that at all. Driving is where everything just crashes, the whole steering and driving is fine it's just how loving much they much you do of it! 50 hours of campaign they said, ya right try 40 hours of loving driving to you're location then getting shot at and pursued by some insanely fast truck (Seriously they have nitro or something). Not only that it takes like 5 shots and you're engine is smoking, the second it starts smoking you slow down! So picture this, a crazy truck on drugs chasing after you with a machine gun, oh ya you can't shoot and drive you have no allies everyone is a loving enemy in this game. You don't even come up to a town and go "Hmm who's a villager, my ally and who's the enemy. NO there is none they are all loving enemies there are no innocent people they just disapeared (Ok they said they all left town at the beggining)(Lame).
If you didn't read all that, Good guns, nice shooting, dead dumb AI, expect the AI to watch his buddy lose his head and just stand there asking for one himself. Driving sucks ass, going to spend 40 hours driving to destinations and reparing you're car. No allies at all, no people, everyone is a enemy just go in guns blazing. Although you do get buddy's but you never see those dudes either unless you die.
Multiplayer: oh my godddd where to start... it's soooo boring, you constantly re-spawn after 20 seconds of dying, there's no "new rounds". What's so bad about that, oh well let's see... when you die you get to look around the map to see where that starfish sniped you from so when you respawn you can go up behind him and knife him :), how stupid. Expect no one to even talk the entire game, no one uses a microphone, chats or does anything team oriented, no one cares if you die or get wounded, they wont even help you up if you get wounded.
In other words, there's no interaction everyone is for themselves and the game modes are really boring.
Map Editor: Ok this thing is pretty cool, i played with it for abit and got to sadly play a few user maps.. It's already being abused, 2nd day out i believe and players are already making the maps unfair or putting special spots or locations in that only they know to kill everyone off. It has great potential but just expect maps are just a total waste of time and stupid stuff. It's also quite complex and will take a good while to make a decent map.
Clear up a few things they really tried selling to us and made to look amazing.
FIRE: Ya this crap was so much bullstuff, fire will not spread across land forever it stops after about 30 seconds no matter the weather condition or the grass type or forest time, only the smaller trees burn correctly the big ones decide when they want to catch fire and if they feel like it. You can not start a forest fire and expect it to engulf a camp like they said, that is a load of total crap!
AI Smarts and Destruction: The AI is dumb, you cannot wound one from 200 with a sniper and expect the other AI's to help the wounded man out, they lied about that i've tried this 100 times they just ignore him or start shooting at me somehow... Destruction was mega over-exaggerated, they said you could destroy huts wooden hurts wooden pillars bridges etc, ya not at all.... that was all crap.
50 hours story mode Oh god this tops the crap.... there is not 50 hours of gameplay, theres 40 hours of you driving around getting shot at, it's crazy you spend 30 minutes driving around with you're map open, then you get there kill the 5-8 guys that are there taking you less than 10 minutes, head back and repeat.
Conclusion, borrow this game from a friend, it's still worth playing it's just not worth buying because the multiplayer is really lame it's not what any of you are expecting at all.
