Old RTB style Items?

I'm getting tired of using commands to put a hat on. Why cant we do it the old RTB way where you have it in your inventory?

What happens when you die?

Maybe it could be a sort of auto use tool.  It's spawned on a brick or something and is immediately equipped.  Someone could also maybe make another gui or something for additional clothing/items to un/equip them.
