Author Topic: Steam game help.  (Read 1461 times)

I just bought FlatOut and whenever I open it, it shows me my CD key, vista asks for permission to run it, it goes back to the 'preparing to launch...' window for about a second then it closes, and I get a 'flatout has stopped working...' thing from Vista.

I already tried restarting both steam and my computer.

Halp.

Turn of UAC, has this always happened? :O And Perhaps try the Steam SUPPORT next time.

UAC?
Never mind, found out what it stood for. Where do I turn it off?

And this is the only game it's doing it for.

User Account Control.

Control Panel>User Accounts>Turn off UAC>Reboot

Yeah, didn't work.

At least you've got that piece of stuff UAC turned off, don't ever turn it back on. I suggest Googling for some help or use The Steam Help System which was placed there for a reason.

What's wrong with UAC?

I'm just going to re-download the game files.

I'm at wit's end. I've re-downloaded the game, checked the files, updated all my windows stuff, disabled my McAfee firewall, everything. It's still not working.

WELL THERE'S YOUR PROBLEM.

Vista isn't so bad. I'd love to get it, but my dad cancelled his MSDN Subscriber thing (Microsoft thing for like $2500 a year but lets you download and get real keys for all Microsoft products any time you want) and I can't afford Vista Home Premium...

Back on topic, guys.

I need a question answered.

Needs moar you posting a whole bunch of keys you got with it(if you get it back) :D

EDIT: I forgot that's kind of endorsing piracy.

Anyway you should check Steam support for this.

fixed. It was a pretty game specific thing.
