Author Topic: True Physics  (Read 4572 times)

Well, I used to play ROBLOX, but it got boring, all the lag, flame wars, and horrible glitches, ect. So in other words, Blockland pwnz ROBLOX.

Trader made a wand that fake kills every connected brick. Will be released with V11

Sounds like a bundle of help.

cool, i gotta v11 and ihave v10 this a it physics. but for 2/24/09?i see mayde? or, not know? :XD: i like rhysics

Wie gehts?

Put the entire build under a name and have the events on each brick be "OnRelay > Self > FakeKillBrick"  This should not make it tip so long as you don't fiddle with any of the first 3 numbers for fake kill and then just see if it tips over or not.

If that doesn't work, then have some fun with your game of Jenga.

If that's true, that it doesn't just fall over with no extra velocity movements, it would be very easy to make a script that automatically permanently fakeKills a brick when you plant it, thus having it enter physics mode. However, Trader did say there is a limit on the number of bricks in physics mode, so it wouldn't work fully after an extent.

Load the demo house on a stick :3

Ramp the price to 40$, make the engine like Boom-Blox's with bricks being physical all the time.

I wouldn't mind paying 20$ to upgrade.

Keep old version so people don't get pissed having to pay again, I wouldn't even mind buying a whole new version for 40$.

It has NOTHING at all to do with Badspot possibly being to lazy to put so much effort into the game, it has to do with the fact that it isn't possible with current computer technology.

Did you know that you can play Blockland on dial-up?  I wonder if you did.  I played it on dial-up for half a year, and guess what?  It worked fine, as long as I wasn't in a server with allot of people.  Now start thinking about the possibility of physics.  30 players jumping around in the server is all you can take?  Oh, I'm sorry, I'm going to try introducing several hundred of objects.  Oh, and to make things worse, I'm going to have your computer have to keep track of them all, even if it can't handle it.  (the prime reason why physics in v11 will turn off if the computer is having a hard time with it.)  Ok, you may be saying "screw those guys with crappy internet, I can handle it!", ok, have your friend start a server with the vehicle limit in the hundreds.  Now, place a vehicle spawn, and spawn the largest vehicle you have.  Now, start duplicating.  Stop when you start to get a little laggy.  Now start a minigame and start blasting them around.  If you don't want to do this, I'll save you the trouble:  You'll find the game will become unplayable, oh, and that is with award winning networking capabilities.

I'm going to lock this topic until v11 is out and then complain when I have something to base my complaints upon.
