Author Topic: True Physics  (Read 4587 times)

According to how I have interpreted the new "brick physics" is that all it does is the bricks fall down when hit with weapons or toggled with brick events, but that's not the same as true physics. When I first read about Blockland, my friend said there was basically a free version called Roblox, he kept telling me that Blockland was better and that I should get that, but my dad was out of town and my mom is paranoid about online shopping so I had to wait. My favorite type of build on Roblox, was one that just barely managed to stay up. I loved making things look almost weightless, supported by almost nothing, I also enjoy doing the same thing with Lincoln Logs. But with Blockland, you really can't do this, sure you can hang something off the rafters in bedroom, which I used to do often, but the sense of accomplishment isn't there, everything is perfectly sturdy and there is no risk of that changing. It may look weightless, but really and truly, its not at any risk of it falling down or anything, which is annoying, true. But it's exciting all the same.

If I understand you correctly...

Not gonna happen. Badspot is too lazy for that at only $20 a pop. And would possibly need a new engine. Idk.

They don't just fall to the ground, you can kick them around and stuff, make them fall around in diffrent ways, even make a catapult.

tl;dr: Bricks are fixed to grid, I don't like it. I want my builds to fall down while I'm putting on finishing touches so I can get pissed and rebuild it

I don't get angry when my builds fall over, not even when building something irl with Lincoln Logs, I get to a point where I say, okay anything past this point will probably cause the build to collapse. So I take a picture and try to make it to another point. And in a game you could do it even better, you could save the entire build.

*edit* and many times the knocking over is done by me catapulting projectiles at it. :x

You could've figured this all out with the demo.
It's a shame the game doesn't exactly suit your style.

I enjoy the game.. I'm just saying I like to take a risk with builds.

I'm pretty sure this is possible, you'd just have to fake kill every. single. brick. With V11 physics.

I'm sure a server-wide toggle could be enabled, but do v11 physics even work that way?

They are client sided. And judging by that video with the catapult, yes they do work that way.

By client side would every player see the same thing though? And if you had it disabled you wouldn't see it, so how is it possible that it could be pushed around?

Trader made a wand that fake kills every connected brick. Will be released with V11

I don't think it's possible to build while the bricks are fake killed, seeing as they would go away after a period of time. You just need to go play gmod and not freeze things. This game isn't what you're looking for. If you like the game, then play this to build things that don't fall, and get roblox or gmod for things that do.

They are pushed around because you're client knows that the player objects are there, and knows that the fake bricks are on the ground. The clients can detect collision aswell.

They go away when the brick is respawned.
