She/He is right, if you don't tell US, we can't help you.

What were you downloading? And never trust Yahoo answers. Save the file and use Anti-Virus software to scan it before opening it.

Usually, the people i do something horrible too deserve it, so no guilt for me. However, if i do make the mistake of hurting someone i knew didn't deserve it, i would either convince myself that it isn't worth confessing, or Ignore it. Wow, when i get to my MidLife crCIA, im gonna have shedload of crap to go over.

That's entirely false. If you lie to your self, you're basically covering up the fact that you did it. You're hiding it in the back of your mind, and no matter how much you lie to yourself, it will show itself every chance it gets, unless you get it off your chest. I know you may think otherwise, but it's true.

You are severely underestimating the human capacity for self deception. People not only do it all the time they do it without knowing they are doing it. I'm not saying it is in any way "right", I'm just saying people do, do it and it does make them feel better.

You are also right, by lying to yourself you shove it to the back of your mind, what you are wrong about is when you do that you do forget things you shove back there. Beating hearts under the floor boards be damned, It's a mechanism used by the brain to protect itself, otherwise you'd go nuts having to deal with every doubt that cannot be simply resolved. You would go batstuff thinking constantly about everything you don't like but can't change.

It's basic psychology (101 type stuff).

Now, knowing this does not help our topic starter, I was just being specious with my first post. If he feels so bad about something that should be confessed the only way to feel better is to confess.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but:

4Chan's anonymous. Confess there.

Ahahaha, I can't believe I just said that.

But really.
