Nope, their still starfishs.  You would need to hold a perfect condition Flamer on them for like a minute to kill them still :/
Yeah, that sucks. I had one right next to a truck when I blew that up and it didn't even take a third of it's life off. :/

My best strategy so far is to run backwards while popping it away with the metal blaster/plasma rifle. Usually I run into a group of something else and they go after each other so I can pick it off from a distance.

the vault says they have 1100 health

The one creature I can't stand going up against are the feral ghoul reavers. They seem to be nearly impervious to any attack. Takes forever for me to kill. Although I just recently got that perk that ups all your basics to 9. Might be somewhat easier now.

I thought all ghouls died from a shot to the head with a lazer rifle/pistol.

that would take atleast 4 bottlecap mines to kill :(

Bikes cause a bottlecap mine-equivalent explosion, Cars cause a mini-nuke-equivalent explosion, buses cause an even bigger explosion.

If you have a plasma rifle, a few shots can detonate any of these, but usually a few hits from any firearm will set the vehicle on fire and it will explode a few seconds afterwards. You can die quite easily in a car explosion so make sure you aren't to close to any cars or that you've detonated them beforehand.
It must have been the bus.

Man, I still haven't been to oasis, I never got around to it.

Don't go there, all you find is a bunch of idiots believing a former human mutated by the Forced Evelutionary Virus (FEV) into a tree is a god.

The roamers are easy to kill, the reavers, however, seem like they're made of flackjackets and their health doesn't seem to tick down despite what I use to shoot them in the head with. Could also be because I have it on the most difficult setting...
