Author Topic: hl2 Radio sound  (Read 4548 times)

In the popular Valve game Half Life 2 (or hl2) there is a mysterious character called Gman. You keep seeing him in the strangest places just staring at you. You begin to get used to it until you pass by a broken television cast aside in a closet. It's not plugged into any power source but it's on. You can see Gman on the screen, just... starring at you. It starts to play this sound...

This was originally meant for use with the "playsound" event and was available on the RTB mod manager. However, it was failed because it was to long for this purpose. I meant to convert it to an ogg and re-upload it, but it turns out there is no more music on the mod manager.

I removed music because logistically it's a pain to make exception handling in all the RTB code for a different format of add-on (music files). But also because I noticed people saw music as an easy way to contribute without making an effort so they'd just upload huge "loops" of music and then act like they'd done their bit for the community. I think the Blockland Music forum serves as a more appropriate place to find music loops.

Instead, I decided to post it here. You can listen to it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFeK9PwgjtI&feature=related

The sound even looped perfectly, it just looked like it was supposed to be music. Most Blockland sound effects are one or two seconds long at most, yours was nearly forty.

Even so it's a bit long for a music piece, but it'll do.

Its called gman radio :x

I noticed that to. I thought I would have to do more editing in audacity to get it to sound right, but all I had to do was press the export as ogg button.
